About Gerald L. Warren and Associates
Gerry Warren has an extensive career as a trial and appellate attorney since 1981. Before his move to private practice, he worked for 17 ½ years as attorney for Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS) until August 2009 when he left to start his own firm. He continues to represent Oregon Cities and Counties in all state and federal trial and appellate courts. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Willamette University in 1978 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1981 from Willamette College of Law.
After law school, Gerry spent several years on active duty as an Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Officer including as a prosecutor in Hanau, then West Germany for three years. He was then selected for assignment to the Army’s Litigation Division at The Pentagon in Washington, DC where he primarily defended medical malpractice claims in conjunction with the US Department of Justice. His last military duty assignment was his appointment by Governor John Kitzhaber as the Oregon National Guard’s State Judge Advocate in August 2001. He served in that position until his retirement in October 2005.
Gerry graduated from the U.S. Army War College in 2003 with a Master's Degree in Strategic Studies. He retired from the Army National Guard at the rank of Colonel with over 34 years of military service. He has successfully handled hundreds of cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts representing Oregon Cities and Counties almost exclusively since 1992.
Nick Naumes served in the U.S. Navy from 2000-2005. During law school at Willamette University College of Law, he clerked for the Law Office of Gerald L. Warren and one summer term for the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office where he gained valuable trial experience. Nick grew up in Medford, Oregon and received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Southern Oregon University, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence cum laude from Willamette College of Law.
Nick is admitted to the Oregon State Bar, the Federal District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Marion County Bar Association, Willamette Valley American Inns of Court, and the American Bar Association. He has worked as an Associate Attorney for Gerald Warren since October 2013 representing a number of Oregon Cities and Counties in state and federal courts, both at trial and appellate levels.
Aaron Hisel brings a wealth of experience to this primarily public body defense firm. Before attending law school at Willamette University, Aaron worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in California. While with the Sheriff’s Department, Aaron graduated from the academy, and was assigned to one of LA County’s jails. Aaron was promoted to the Central Housing Unit where he worked on identifying and remedying the many classification and housing issues that arise in one of the world’s largest jail systems. He left LA to get closer to home and to work as a police officer for the City of Renton, Washington. During Aaron’s time with the Renton Police Department, he served in many roles including patrol, bicycle patrol, undercover and as a member of the Valley SWAT team. Aaron was the 2009 Renton Police Officer Guild’s “110% Award” winner.
In law school Aaron carried a heavy load by working simultaneously as a law clerk for the Law Office of Gerald L. Warren and the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, and as a student assistant for legal research and writing classes. During his time with the Clackamas County DA’s office, Aaron successfully prosecuted several criminal trials. Aaron graduated a semester early from Willamette, finishing in the top ten percent of his class. Aaron began his legal career when he was sworn in on April 28. 2016.
In addition to his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Willamette University, Aaron received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development from Washington State, and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University, Ohio. He is a proud new father but dedicated to his new career like few others.
